The Amati pattern is a perfect smaller-bodied 4/4 pattern. Modeled after the great Nicolo Amati of 17th century Cremona who inspired the next generation of Stradivari and Guarneri. This reproduction is ideal for the player looking for a more comfortable violin, not quite 7/8-size but smaller than the traditional 4/4-size, exhibiting a refined and versatile tonal palette. This violin is equipped with a Dresden style chinrest which fits the Amati pattern nicely.

Established in 1896 and primarily known for producing Concert Harps of the highest standard, Lyon & Healy is also well knon for the fantastic violins they imported from France and Germany in the early 1900’s. This Amati model of French origin, is over 100 years old and in wonderful condition. Flamed Boxwood fittings accentuate the golden-orange varnish. This violin offers a sweet, focused tone with plenty of power considering it’s smaller dimensions.

100% European spruce top, classic Strad pattern! 1716 “Goldman” Stradivari is a Golden Period instrument loaned to Yehudi Menuhin as a young prodigy in 1928 by the investment banker Henry Goldman, and then played most famously by Nathan Milstein from 1945 to 1992. This older violin has undergone a complete restoration and set-up in our shop. The darker reddish-brown varnish has a craquelure throughout the body of the instrument and the original scroll has been re-varnished. This violin offers a darker, rich tone with good projection.

Charles Collin-Mezin, Jr. was a French violin maker who collaborated with his father Charles Jean Baptiste Collin-Mezin, a famous Parisian Luthier. When his father died in 1923, the family’s Mirecourt workshop was taken over by Charles, Jr., who moved from his fathers Paris workshop to Mirecourt in 1925. He also spent some time working in the United States.
All his labels say “Paris”, and display his father’s name. He seems to have continued to produce instruments as if by his father for many years after his father’s death. His violins display high-quality workmanship in the tradition of his father.
His varnish is thick, with an Italian appearance.

In very good condition with only minor varnish wear. The fittings are of boxwood with Mammoth Ivory accents and are original. This is a violin with a projecting tone reminiscent of Stradivaris finest models.
